KIMBERLEY BUSHFIRE
This image captures a breathtaking scene of what appears to be two teenage Boab trees entwined together, as if they’re tango dancing in the midst of yet another deliberately lit fire in the Kimberley. The Boabs slender trunks and delicate branches twisting and turning together in a graceful, almost romantic dance. I can almost hear the music playing in my head.
The fire surrounding the trees is bright and intense, casting a warm bright orange glow across the landscape. The flames appear to be licking at the base of the trees, but the trees themselves appear unscathed, as if they are somehow protected by this senseless madness of arson.
Despite the danger and drama of this scene there is also a sense of poetic beauty and serenity. The Boabs appear to be in perfect harmony with each other and with the surrounding landscape, as if they are celebrating the raw elemental power of nature.
